Small riders

Don't most people buy a bike that fits their stature rather than buy a bike and then try to work out how the fuck they can use it?

Based on that assumption, all smaller people on scooters and all tall riders on adventure bikes

Well i have an answer to that :upyou

I tried the GS before i bought it, worked out what need to be done and had it done,

I ride the bike I want ride, not what someone thinks I should ride :D

Ok - thanks for all the advice 😗
The rack is probably the best option so far!

Im interested in real life comparisons of GS1200 lowered compared to GS1300 (both with low seat) - in terms of height comparison.
Any experience?
I can cover 1200 hexhead to 1200 LC to 1200 TC

So lets get some myths out of the way

Height had sod all to do with feet down , only inside leg

Ive a 28" inseam, so thats where i work from

06 hexhead
With std seat set low is tippytoes and felt unsafe
With a factory low seat was balls of the feet
With 30mm lowered suspension was flat foot

16LC factory low
With std seat set low - Tippytoes and felt unsafe
With an ultralow seat & lowering bobbins Balls of the feet

The LC was 60mm wider across the seat than the hexhead, so you lose the gain of lowering 30mm via suspension

11 TC

With std seat set low is tippytoes and felt unsafe
With a factory low seat was a little bit better , but not much
With a reprofiled seat - 30mm - Balls of the feet

All i can say is check the std suspension height, they make each model taller lol

Interesting 🤨
As indicated initially, Ive had 3 GS’s & taken them off road - more than most. I’m interested in real life comparisons vs narrow assumptions - thanks

I believe that the GSA has adaptive height control comfort which is 20mm lower than the GS.

Still need to know what the seat width is ;)

The factory low LC was 30mm lower than the std bike , bit the 60mm width increase on the seat wiped out any gains

Can’t comment as I always use a high seat in high position , on my V4s is set on additional spacers as like to be high . 5ft11 . When I had the the 1300 the drop on the suspension was very noticeable, so I would think with an extra low seat and the auto lowering would work very well .

I had a 1200 GS lowered. Worked a dream. I then got a GS Normal seat height which was also manageable. I visited a dealer recently and could not safely say I would take any of the new stable of bikes out. I tried 1300GS, and the new 1300 basic? basically all the bikes in the show room were too tall for me to want to buy. 5"6 32 inch leg.....I'm out

I found another good reason to get the 'adaptive ride height' yesterday. It makes it easier to paddle the bike backwards 200m to the last junction when you see a speed camera and you're doing .......

I'm 5'3" with a 28" ISL & the 1300 GS with adaptive height & the low seat is fine for me with an extra lug having been welded to the upper part of the side stand.

I'd say it's slightly lower than a low chassis 1250 with low seat & of course, it's very slightly lighter too.

I don’t know if this helps… I found it online when checking the seat high of the R1300 GSA.
