It Is'nt smooth and does'nt spring back to neautral on the twist grip. Sticking and stiff Is how I would say It was. Now I have taken the screw out of the cable housing on the bars, and removed the wheel and chain set up, then re attached to the two throttle cable nipples and added a little silicon spray lube but It's still the same. Would I be right In thinking a change of cables would sort It ? The twist grip rolls freely when the wheel and chain are out ( all disconnected) so It's not in the bar/grip area as I can see. Not sure If the wheel and chain and cog set up In the housing needs to go back a special way or not, the haynes manual offers nothing up on the throttle cables. I just lined the horizontal wheel up with the start of the indents (cogs) on the vertical wheel on the twist grip. Make sence ?? Maybe not. Anyway It feels tight and stiff, any thoughts on getting a smooth action Into the twist grip ? Thanks.

More often than not it needs the twist grip replacing along with the cam. Not too expensive and will at least sort it out for another 20 years.

I've got heated grips Is that a big deal when changing ?. Think they are the original grey grips, they've got "BMW" stamp on them anyway. Worked well today on the way to the breakfast run, they were that bloody hot I could'nt hold the bar's!

I've got a similar issue with my PD. A new twistgrip with a heated grip is £61 + Vat. I've never tried to swap a heated grip onto a new twistgrip though so no idea if there's a cheaper way round it.

I had the same issue on my recently purchased PD (and with heated grips).

I found the cables at the carbs were badly worn and unthreading which didn't help. I renewed the cables and it's made a big difference to the throttle response.
