Am on the search again for a new bike, been considering few options and today, saw a great offer on a 2010 SMT but NO ABS.........

Love KTM's, had an Adventure 990 before which was great, and was always a fan of the SMT (but never ridden one)

Bike looks in great condition but as I say, no ABS - is it a showstopper? Generally always wanted ABS

Guy who is selling said "luckily model without ABS" - no idea what he meant by that

Any thoughts???

Go for it I have a 12 plate
And to ride it like a super moto you need to turn abs off any way ;-)
With the berm on brakes and quality tyres I wouldn't worry too much
Great do anything bike

More to go wrong - in the future?

I wouldn't be put off by lack of ABS.

Great bikes - by all accounts

Am really tempted - what are they like to live with - service costs, reliability? I loved the 990 Adventure but had some issues with it, that made me sell in the end. Like the look of the bike, but just wanna know what I am getting into!

I had a SMT great fun bike, no real problems, they can be a bit 'jerky' in slow traffic, lots of threads on this, just ride 'faster'. Don't put Diesel in it like i did :blast The brembo brakes on the KTM's are brilliant, even without the ABS.
Make sure it's the right colour :D

I DID IT!!!!

Bought it, havent actually seen it live but the pics look great, guy sounded very genuine and I just really fancied it!!!!

Will let you know more thoughts after collection!

Quick q about luggage now - what are you guys using? Doesnt come with any and I do fancy something for those trips away - any advice?

It's Got heat shields on exhaust so a good pair of throw overs and a roll bag on the rack tank bag if you need one
Can get topbox for more security

The brakes on the KTM are excellent, I wouldn't worry about not having ABS, the bike will stop quicker without it!

Great bikes, I had the GS, then a multi 1200, now this, great brakes, quick enough a to b, I used a ortlieb roll bag strapped on and thats fine, I used to use all the panniers etc but I prefer the roll bag, going back to how I used to be on the bike, before all this adventure crap, years ago we just used to strap our bags on and go, it seems a bit refreshing now!!! The bike is fun, put some akras on it and smile at the sound!
