Bugger :blast

Back end bouncing up and down like a cheap tart :D

A 'proper' breakage :D

Out came the tools, the tyre levers, ratchet straps, cable ties......off came the back end

Vern's pannier rails were adapted to spread the weight a bit....(cheers Andy :thumb2)

And within the hour we were off again......

Until my starter motor casing shattered into 7 pieces in a not very good place :blast

The blacksmith next to Gordito's got to work on both though and within 15 mins had sorted the frame problem.....

Not the prettiest of jobs but I'm confident it's now stronger than it was :)

No idea how something like that would have been caused :augie

My spangly ally plate extended rack, with tools, spare fuel and Haribo supplies carried over 20k miles of off road in Maroc, sometimes two up, plus another 50k on road often two up with full luggage? Naaah, surely not :blast

Not a weakness as such, but the weakest point in the frame where the two sections meet....as mentioned, the ECU plug was pulled and the Battery disconnected both sides before welding to prevent any McGregor moments with the brakes and job's a good'un :thumb2

For £20 of welding, gotta be worth considering before Mongolia :beerjug:

Oh, I get it now! :blast

You deliberately leave your bike on the edge of mechanical and structural disaster so your clients can get the full "adventure mechanic" experience without buggering up their own bikes!

its a real shame we didn't get any pictures of the starter motor.
It looked like an easter egg that had been stamped on.

Cunning Moroccans actually welded it up and turned up a new phosphor bronze end bearing.:thumb

Keep umming and arring about using it in an ad but it seems a bit w@nky using a pic of meself in one :blast

Just talk about yourself in the third person then. e.g. "Fanum relaxing in the moroc sun".

People won't question it then!

I'm too much of a gentleman ....... no I'm not - I enjoyed this (1200 lover):D:D:D

Brilliant photo - an all time great :thumb2
