typically of me...i only just found this thread

.
Brilliant Snoopy, just excellent. the whole thing from start to finish.

this snippet made me smile, think, reminded me of trips i've taken in the past and dreams i have of the future and most of all
why i love riding a bike in the first place!
"I didn’t feel like I had to be anywhere, like I had any purpose or a life mission to fulfill. I was sitting with some unknown stranger who could have been a mate for years - and a bunch of young Spanish girls. All alone in Morocco, 23 riding a GS and my mam didn’t know where I was because I couldn’t txt her. It felt very real and stranger still it felt very right."
very real and very right.
ohhhh yes. i know exactly that feeling
sure - you can and have been criticised for prep or lack of - but i remember at 23 thinking an "adventure" was running late for the Holyhead ferry to Dublin on the twisty old A5 on a bike with dodgy swing arm bushes!
a mate at the time decided to go overland to India on his bike...a Kwack 440 Ltd

- he DID make it, did less prep than you and had only got as far as Luton from Dublin, then had to stop and rebuild the top end of the engine at my place....i thought him insane

- but he carried on and made it happen.
i was astounded, jealous (yes, i admit it - jealous

)...but to this day i am impressed and inspired by that.
no matter what challenges you set yourself for the rest of your life - you are never going to forget this trip. will be inspired and uplifted by it. it will give you confidence now and competence in future.
mind you....when you ARE an old fart like many of us here...you WILL evntually get to the point in time when you go "jayzuz!... i did THAT and didnt do ____* THIS"
(*insert preparation neurosis of choice here)

Well done Mate
i look forward to your next ride report
