Ive made one.

Its the same kind of pipe used by vacum cleaners but ive managed to get
a rubber adaptor that fits the 1100/1150 snorkel.

What do you think :D

No im safe its a motorvehicle workshop extraction hose
wicked in it just need to try it now.

is the pipe sealed with mastic into the breather or just pushed in, how deep are you planing to go on the first trip. good luck :clap

Excellent! :)

Wherre did you get the pipe and adaptor from? The air inlet on your 1100 looks quite similar to that of the 1200. The problem on the 1200 is that the plastic side panels obstruct it, I think I'll try and pick up a second hand panel on the cheap and cut a hole in it.

I work at a technical collage and we use these
pipes for extracting body filler dust weve got a bag of new ones
so i asked the boss if i could have one. And there was the adaptor to
its actuly on back to front so if you put it on forwards
its got more of a taper on it so it might fit the 1200 if your at
Llangollen you can have a go with it :)

hehe put an inflatable arm band (the ones to teach kids to swim kind of thing) on the end so when you fall over in the fords the snorkel wont submerge......lightning inspiration or something.....

I'll just excuse myself slightly.....

Finished ive mounted the end of the pipe on the screen.

er .............

Wont that get rain down it ?

Nice work Septic, but just a quick comment on it....

The end of the pipe should be BEHIND the screen....if you do a shallow-ish ford at speed, the splash will still chuck water down the tube...plus it'll be neater (and you can make it shorter..it could end behind the NippyNorm sticker)

In all honesty, snorkels on GS's don't really need to be much more than things that stop the wash of water that comes over the cylinder heads from going down the intake.......they only need to run up to around the headstock IMO...unless you're seriously hardcore and then you'd need to seal the air box, fuse box etc.

Yes but that shouldn't make much difference....let's face it, we all ride in rain (unless it's Tarka on his polish fetish toy) and it doesn't make any difference when spray goes up yer air intake....the thing that does the damage is when enough wash comes over the heads and hydraulics the engine. ;)

Yes exactly how good is the standard sealing on the airbox. Not that I would ever go into deep water..................................or shallow :D

Ah well, erm, yes - but the fuse box, just off camera, is perfectly watertight :o
