Snow in Scotland again

This time the Borders and a bit higher, the 40 miles from the A74(M) to the Edinburgh City Bypass took nearly 2 hours tonight (the A74(M) had a couple of serious accidents on it because of the weather - truck took out a 4x4),

On the A702, there was over a dozen stranded trucks, 40 or so stranded or abandoned cars, stranded gritter, a car crashed in a ditch with occupants inside, 8 inches of snow on the road, this was all known about wasn't it...., I don't know how I did it but I think Jesus was pushing the car home tonight, it seems like me and 3 4x4's were the only thing to get off the A702 tonight (I was in a Kia.....)

I can't believe the Council have been caught unawares.....

I don't think we would be allowed, the roads would be in a worse state that it already is.....

Winter rubber, no studds?
I guess that would help and not damage the road.

If I remember it correctly ca.40% of us have that type on our cars.
Some years ago almost all had studds - not anymore.

Stormiest night of the winter, Wind is incredible,so ferocious,i have just built two sheds and am wondering which will blow down first .It really is so bad and we are kind of use to bad conditions here.The wind has blasted the snow everywhere.I grew up in the house where i stay now and never can i remember such a wind.Really hope there is not too much damage when this blows itself out.

Nothing but high winds and sleet up here.

Regarding snow tyres, i know a handful of people that fit them up here, but we don't normally get enough snow to warrant changing over to them.

Yes, heard it on the news on the way into work this morning, very sad.

I found the wind yesterday the worst I have encountered on the bike. It was booked in for an MOT but that got delayed when the battery couldn't sum up the energy to start the bike. Not a problem as that made it easy for me to claim on my AA Parts and Labour and picked up an new battery while in getting my MOT. The Bike passing its MOT, and a new battery made up for the cold, windy and snowy ride to Glasgow and back.
