Bit soon to tell... but upgraded on Friday, it took about an hour on my MacBookPro happened seamlessly although had to re load some printer software.

It definitely boots/shuts down faster, quicker to jump between apps, few tweaks hear and there (battery condition info..bugger mine needs looking at by service:blast) I'm sure some more stuff will come to light
 
still waiting for mine.

i heard it was faster, but that's not been my experience up to now :mad:
 
Well it installed with no apparent problems and in fact I am using it to type this.

Safari does seem to load slightly quicker

Seems to have turned on a Keyboard and Character Viewer icon on my toolbar which I don't remember b4 :augie
 
Slightly off topic - but anyone know if the Apple Logo stickers that are supplied with the Snow Leopard (and for that matter with the Leopard) DVD are reflective - kind of wondering if they are worth sticking on the leading edge of my panniers - but not much point if they don't reflect.

Note: I have tried photographing them with a flashgun, but the shiny surface of the backing paper kind of masks the result.

I think I have seen photos of other 'Tossers' bikes with the apple logos on - but the ones I can remember were all in daylight.
 
if they are the same as the pair of white apple logos that come with many apple products, then they are not reflective.
 
Has anyone that has upgraded to Snow Leopard run into any issues that would have stopped them upgrading if thwey had known about it in advance?

Likewise have the positive factors warranted upgrading?

So far I have seen a small performance benefit and a minor (work related) compatibility issue involving using Rosetta, but as the Mac is my personal one, and not normally used for work I am not too bothered by this.

Just trying to gauge people's opinions of the update

The only thing I have found to not work (at all) was Citrix, it now moans that it cannot start the Xenapp applications, worked perfectly before. I now have to switch over to my XP boot-camp partition. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming soon. The forums mention about the 64bit Safari being the issue.

Apart from that, I love my Macbook, but you have to look really really hard to see any noticable difference with Snow Leopard, speedwise doesn't seem to be any quicker even with a respectable 4GB memory.
 
A couple of things I have noticed since I upgraded my Dec 08 Macbook Pro 17", the battery does not appear to last as long and I had a battery warning (that has now disappeared) that was telling me to contact a local service centre, which I did. They said to bring it in for a battery test which is a very quick test, this will determine if the battery needs replacing.

Possibly not related to the SL upgrade which went perfectly in about 50 mins, the machine appears to be a little bit faster than before, but it was fast anyway. Parallels and everything else works fine.

There was a software update to the OS following the upgrade which is related to the latest version of Adobe reader (Adobe Reader has been security patched since SL was released).

P.S. The warranty only covers batteries for 12 months regardless if you have a 3 year extended warranty.
 
As well as Snow Leopard/Safari/Adobe updates it looks like iTunes has also had an update to version 9.x - can't see much of a difference other than for Genius in the new iTunes.

So I've been doing a bit of work to install Snow Leopard as well as iLife and iWork, got to say, not a huge amount of difference from Tiger, so I'm pretty comfortable with all that's before me, there seems to be a fair amount of tweaks but I'm sure I'll get on top of them in due course

As for the installation, all of my files and so on were still available, some bother with 'keychains' and some deleting to do because apps don't work on SL. I've had to reinstall all of my EPSON drivers too.....and the only bit that I can't get to work is QUICKTIME.....I can't find a cheap driver to play AVI files....:( ......I might have to fork out cash.....:mad: ......the movies I have won't play - any suggestions....:nenau .....mobileme account seems to be ok as well, although I need to tweak that a little more

the old domain file for iWeb wouldn't work either, no big deal really, I've just bought a new domain name and busy redesigning my website. So all a bit of a damp squib to be honest, having a bit of fun rethinking that side of things.....:mac

Had a bit of a play with Garageband which looks fun, that'll be my Xmas project.....:D

so all told, not bad really.......I'm sure there will be more as I do a bit of digging.....

flip4mac has a beta that works with snow leopard, but i have to say it doesn't work as well as the old one did in leopard. wmv files can be slow to load. plays avi fine though.
use VLC Player in the meantime? :nenau

i now have SL on both my macs & notice some speed increase in operation, mostly app start ups and especially waking from sleep.

both now just feel nicer :)

i was advised that one of my most used progs, 1Password v.2 would not work with SL, so upgraded to v.3 beta at a cost of $19. found it still very beta, and then that v.2 actually does work in SL :blast

snow leopard otherwise an incremental improvement over leopard and worth the asking (nowt in my case for a genuine copy :D ).
