A snippit from todays news.

The Irish economy is forecast to shrink faster than that of any other country in the wider EU region – with the exception of Latvia.

I was out in Dublin on Saturday night supporting your economy!

I couldn't see any signs of credit crunch amongst the celebrating throng of Rugby fans. In fact at no point did I hear any-one say "No I won't have another pint of Guinness as I am worried about only being second to Latvia"

Please fill in your own cutting comments re rubbish England Rugby performance is space below..........

was out to dinner Thursday last week in Limerick, restaurant full as it was the previous week, reservation necessary. A supplier tells me that the previous week, he was installing some equipment in a hotel and overnighting as the owner's guest. He had to wait for a table to clear in the restaurant and noted that it seemed to be about €150 a plate.
Now if you're trying to sell cars or property, forget it. Fashion outlets, mega and theme bars are closing. Landlords are having to cut rents.
Some prices are falling on consumables, but some people are going to Northern Ireland to buy their groceries at half price, and in euro.
Petrol is still around €1 / 0.88p a litre.
2nd hand cars sell or going up, servicing busy, shoe repairers busy, off licences.
40+ students arrested in Glaway last week for being drunk and disorderly during Rag Week.
Quality trademen have work for at least 3 months, lots of money in savings accounts and lots of careful spenders.
If you were in construction or anything that thrived on credit, you screwed.
If not, you're spending wisely.

Dont fret

Despite all the financial shite, the birds are singing in the morning, the trees and shrubs are awakening, the ould rugby team is raising the spirits nationwide, the price of fuel is low and good weather is surely only a couple of weeks away:augie
One thing i did note was the Sweet chariots were noticably absent on saturday in Dublin:aidan. Johnson looked like a bulldog licking piss of a nettle. I expect with our current form the flower of Scotland will wither and there will be no bread from heaven in Wales either. Roll on the next few games:thumb

have to agree i think there is still money in the country just people are afraid to spend it.
i work in a garage and it is hard to belive how bad things have got so quick.
i have a few friends who have gone out of bussiness and a few more who build gin pallaces and have no chance of paying for them in this climate,
as i was told at a motor trade meeting recently 80% of people are still in the same job live in the same house and on the same money.
there is a huge fair of job loss and people are holding on to there money if they have it and the banks have fecked it up so bad they wont give 5 or 10k to a decent guy to buy a car or do up his house because the big cats have got all the cash tied up
construction and car sales = screwed

I will have you know I was singing Swing Low with all my heart and soul, despite the dismal England performance. However the 80,000 Irishmen seemed to take offence at this and drowned it out with a local ditty....

Have to say nice to be in a stadium where all the kickers get quiet and respect :thumb2

T900 & I are only new to going to rugby matches. Sat was our second what a great atmosphere. All kickers get respect and yes its nice. I was in Davin stand and when O'Gara was takin 1 of the peno's, a voice shouted out " come on England " now due to the fact that Croker was in silence you could very clearly here in a very thick Dub accent some guy shout " will you shut the f**k up " all around me burst out laughing.

Glad you enjoy the game and the subtle and intelligent banter.

For the best experience get to Cardiff and go to the Millenium for Wales Ireland (maybe just a bit late to get a ticket for this year!) Coming out of the Stadium and on to St Marys in Cardiff with 75,000 fans is, win or lose, always the start of a great night.
