For a while I've been considering a way to provide tie down point on the 1200 system panniers.
The situation is somewhat complicated by having the expanding system. However, by removing two screws inside the pannier lid, the lock assembly and a further two screws underneath, it is possible to remove the outer finisher.
I bought some lacing eyes from a yacht chandlers, drilled some 4mm holes and this is the result.
There is enough room inside the moulding for washers and nuts on the m4 screws and as this is still ouside the water proof compartment, waterproofness is not compromised.
So, with the slots on the 1200 seat base and these eyes, I can now strap stuff to my pannier lids.
