This Dutchman wanted a light bar from me. I was about to take it to the post office, but then I took a look outside. It was a bit cold but sunny. So why not go to Holland instead? I had nothing to do that couldn't wait, so I plotted a route along some minor roads between here and there in MapSourse, fired up the airhead and off I went.

After about 15 minutes I was here:

And a out of the sun there was a bit of snow left.

Here and there the trails were a bit more challenging, but never really hard to ride.

The old airhead was purring happily after its service last week.

Along the corn fields and farms...

The ponies didn't seem to mind the cold either.

Along the canal

With a little old sluice

And a wooden bridge that proved to be quite slippery :eek

After hours of negotiating with the heavily armed guards at the Dutch border I gave up and offered them a bribe. So I finally made it into Holland.
No, you won't believe that, will ya?

So I hardly noticed I crossed a border and in Holland they were ice skating on a pond.

And I found some more sandy tracks in the woods there.

Even a proper windmill in action.

I made the delivery, passed by another Dutch GSers house and made it back to the homeland.

That's how a boring little run to the post office turned out to be a nice day out!

I came home with 175 kilometers extra on the airhead and a big grin on my face. :D
Hope you enjoyed the pics too.

Cheers,
Michel

Good report and nice pics there MiGSel.

Funny how the spur of the moment, totally unplanned rides can often be the most fun/memorable. :thumb

Aren't you glad I didn't drag you off for a ride in the slightly coldness (read -5 to -6c) all the way to Luxembourg then :D

I think I recognize some of those tracks and trails in Holland ....or is it my imagination ?

I certainly had a good time playing around the Dutch border.
Luxembourg will still be there next week :)

I don't think I have been on tracks that I've seen before yesterday, but they often look similar in that area in Holland.
So you might be right, I don't know.

How's the attic clean-up coming along?
Where's the new show-us-yours thread? :D

Cheers,
Michel
