So if you've had a wc...

Can you define dull ? or are you just parroting the oft said phrase because Honda make "boringly" reliable motorcycles and cars.

Now if we are talking dull, I had a demo ride on a BMW F800 naked something or other and at the time I had turned up on my 1999 Honda VFR800. Despite the BMW being new, I found it as dull as ditchwater.

No power, 2 parallel cylinder wheeze and just generally not a patch on the gear driven cam V4, despite costing what, 4 times as much ?

I personally think BMW motorcycles are way over priced for what they offer.

Oh yes, another anecdote.

About 4 years or so ago, a mate bought a brand new big BMW touring bike, something with 4 cylinders paid about £14000. Had no end of trouble with it and the last straw being that due to an electrical malfunction, he couldn't turn it of with the key.

In the end it needed a new wiring loom, and I believe it was out of warranty. He got rid pronto and bought a second hand Kawasaki GTR, which he rates as far superior and vowed never to buy another BMW motorcycle.

BMW have big reliabilty problems , we all know it and for the money they charge that's very poor, or maybe they have to charge so much because the cost of warranty claims across their model range is so horrendous.

Here we go again

I wouldn't say a Fireblade was boring. How boring is it when your precious GS keeps developing faults as documented repeatedly on this site.

Methinks you wear rose tinted spectacles Mr Engineer.

Totally agree with you there. I'd say a blade is anything but boring. It's a fantastic great handling bike

The cross tourer is a decent enough bike with better build quality than the gs. If it had the electronics package the gs does I probably would be riding one of those instead

Yeah it's a shit motorbike don't buy it. I'd buy a Chinese scooter instead.

There are some comments that are just ridiculously stupid.

Do you want another one an hour later?

80% made in china apparently. And only assembled in Germany. That's a lot of wonga for a Chinese bike and explains the piss poor quality issues

The non Chinese parts include, brakes, exhaust, tyres.

I would say 80% is a bit of an over exaggeration... I've found a few "made in....." Labels on mine, not too many from China. The clocks were made in Oz I think.

Put 1750 miles on mine last week. Across Belgium, over to Cochem, down through the Black Forest, a loop around Switzerland taking in a few high passes, round the lake via Geneva then up through France stopping at Two Wheel Moorings..

I admit that it clunks in to first but other than that.... No problems...No shakes, No wobbles.. No rattles.. No miss fitting boxes..No switch gear faults..No dragging clutch...No oil used... No problems.. Nothing ...Nada....nowt....

Only a fantastic ride :-)

And it's getting better all the time.. :-))))

Oh....... apart from the Feckin' tyres, them Next's are shite!!!

+1:thumb I've had a lot of bikes, and this one is by far the best, with NONE of the issues mentioned on here.:JB:ChrisKelly:Motomartin:D

And agreed on the tyres, I changed my Nexts for Anakee 3's and the Anakees are loads better.:beerjug:

I've still got a few miles left in the Next's and was hoping to get Pilot Road Trails if available. If not, it will either be the Anakee 3's or Conti Trail Attacks.

Apart from the tyres which I've just not taken too, the rest of the bike is, perfect. I do feel for those that have issues but I really, really don't have any. Not sure if it was just being away on the bike or not but 700 miles in to the trip and it seemed to get better, not sure if I'd just passed through some running in spot or what but it's effortless, quiet and stable at all speeds and although the fuel consumption on motorways is acceptable 45ish mpg ! On the back roads through the Black Forest and over the alps the DTE was showing over 250 miles at fill ups and it seemed to be heading for 280 miles to a tank at some points.

Did 450 miles on the last day up through France to home, a mix of single carriageways and motorway/autoroute and for most of the time on the faster roads we were siting at 85+ never put my visor down, no aches or pains and I've got a couple of places (shoulder and leg) that have had decent surgery !!

I love this bike and I'm only sad that's it's coming to the end of the real riding season :-(

Never take enough pics but here's one up some pass with my mates Tiger!

That wall they made seems to have lasted pretty well ;)

Funnily enough in the middle ages most of the worlds high quality luxury goods came from China. Read "Vermeer's Hat"

Today the Apple products I use seem to very well made and are 100% reliable.

Seems like we got the best two LCs made :D

P.S. I like the Nexts, wet or dry

Yep, got them on the same day, at the same place and let's face it... they are both red which we all know is the best.

Yep, I can honestly say, mine is, faultless....little clunk into first but that's about it.

The next's aren't bad, just not ...... Great.

Conti's soon......:thumb

1. "White"

2. The Conti's are absolutely fantastic, inspiring so they are.

Disagree on the first.....:augie

But yep, was a bit miffed I didn't get conti's from the off but hey.... When your bike is perfect.... What does it matter.........

..:hide

rather begs the question, why are you here then?

is the honda forum too dull perhaps?

You're so right my friend.
I've been in several forums all over Europe all for BMW's. I come from Greece. I have never been in a Honda forum because I really don't need it. I ride a GS since 1996, I have loved everything on them, including their problems and mulfunctions. I'm a technician and when I have a problem with my bike, I care most about the nature of the problem and not the problem itself. There is not a single machine with no problems in this world, they are all human made... that is why. It all depends on how we use it. Here in Greece we use GS's to climb mountains and Varadero's to go for coffee by the beach. This is the only reason why they are so reliable. My co-worker owns it, it has turned grey on plastics because of the sun and he has already changed the fuel pump twice. He never discussed it in a forum, if you ask him he keeps on saying how reliable Honda is, he's repeating that like a robot.
Every single time we discuss our problems and queries about our bike, there will always be at least one Honda "fanatic", "graphic", etc member.. trying to PROOVE THEMSELVES what a great bike they bought, and how stupid we are paying SO MUCH MONEY on a GS...
Sorry but this is not 'I love ride my bike'. it's more like 'I have a complex with beemers'...
