I did a 235 km trip yesterday (in the running-in process) and although the fuel bar,was at the last bar before getting to reserve , i went to full load the bike and know how much fuel it needed ????

8.06 litres !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

unbelievable !!!

I liked that very much, but wondered why the fuel bar showed me so little fuel , though there was a half fuel tank full there !!

Thats 83mpg - even running in, I find that figure hard to believe. Are you sure it really was full? - the tank takes a long time to fill unless you do the filler mod.

Paul

yes,the guy at the gas station filled it little by little at the end.
Say there was some space,it should filled the most with 8.7 litres !!

0.7 litres more .. It seemed full to me !

Vey economic. Just the problem with the fuel bar makes me worried !!

Maybe a software problem..don't know what to say..

Hi Jlabro,

I filled mine up to the brim on Saturday.

I'd done 249.9 miles and it took 19.93 litres of fuel and showed a remaining range of 6 miles.

The last bit of the tank takes ages to fill up, without resorting to modifications to the filler.

very economic bike , i have to say !!

With the Varadero i had,it would spend at least 12-13 litres !!

i have to record it in video !!!

Don't forget i am still in running-in , with 4000rpm top and veeeery smooth right hand moves..

Maybe...

he pushed the new BMW button.......
'run on one cylinder only', fuel pump gerfcuk'ed :P

After all the previous discussions on the fuel gauge and whether it was accurate, I ran my bike down to 0KMS remaining and achieved about 10KMS before running out of fuel.

I had to surmise that the later build bikes gauges were pretty accurate!

I figure anything between 320-350KMS depending on the throttle action!

What filler mod. would this be then?
Incidentally my fuel gauge has become a bit unstable?
I used to fill it up & gauge would show full, noe even though full it is 1 or 2 bars down.
This appears to have happened after the 'o' rings were replaced on the fuel line as part of a product recall, can't quite see how this should have affected anything. I was told it was the QD fuel line connector.

Hang on... hang on.
Just realised you are probably rich type people on the GS12, ignore a poor peasant.
GS1150 the MACHO VERSION!

haven't taken my 1200 reserve warning down to less then 6 miles to go and still manged to get over 20 litres into the tank.

i've done over 6000mls now and still running in till 10000mls i am told. the engine just betterer and better and more willing to rev..... so smooth have to check what gear i am in. ;)

Eliminator,

Fuel mod applies to 1150 as well. It involves drilling the neck so it can be filled up faster and fuller.
