from the official BMW accessory catalogue for the new R1200GS LC??

Some items that one may consider to be either essential, normal & necessary to enjoy your new motorcycle for it's intended use, just normal stuff and nothing fancy?

A years supply of lockstops and 8 boxes of underpants ?

For a measly £2791 it would buy you..

Panniers
Topbox, with pillion back rest
Luggage Inner bags
Crashbars
Spotlights
BMW Nav1V

£2791 is roughly half the value of my 1150GSA, with Wilbers/Corbin/Alloy luggage

BMW prices seem to going into orbit:eek:

How much would Wilbers/Corbin/Alloy luggage cost new then?

Good luck to anyone who pays that when you can get the sat-nav half price without the BMW badge on it and pannier liners for £80...or £40 if you're lucky and I wouldn't bother with the pillion backrest as anyone leaning against the topbox will probably break the mounting plate.

What about heated grips and hand guards?

You've missed the point, Chris

All I did was list some fairly standard items and was staggered at the cost:eek:

Panniers/Topbox/Liners/Crashbars/Driving Lights and SatNav are to many riders - a basic touring requirement and for that privilege BMW want £2791

We all know you can get cheaper elsewhere or secondhand - but at present if you want this stuff next week, then there is only BMW to buy them from and their prices are eyewatering to say the least

If you have SatNav prep, then the wheel will only work with the Nav4 product, I was told today as the software is linked, so any ordinary Garmin product won't work it

I only compared the £2791 would be half the value of my bike, irrespective of what it was fitted with or for £2791 you could pick up a decent 11GS :blast

BMW accessory prices are now staggering:eek:

Is the accessory catalogue available online?

Johnny's right, all this cost does not equate to more riding pleasure. I talked to a couple recently who bought two new step through C50 style bikes each year and toured Europe for two six week holidays. Nice if you have the time but shows £14000+ for a touring bike is not necessary.
Spot lamps? I rarely ride in the dark
Panniers? I tour but only really need them two weeks a year.
LED headlamps? if you must but just don't ride your likely 2000m a year in the dark.
LED indicators? I have them on mine and they are crap, to warn others your turning you need huge amber lamps like the 3" jobs Honda used to fit.
Clear indicators? They flash orange, why not be orange.
Electronic adjustable suspension? with 3 settings on the rear shock you could only be wrong 66% of the time. Total adjustability means you will probably be wrong 90% of the time.
ABS- well all modern things are not bad, I'm a believer now, and will not have a new bike without. I put tubeless tires in with must haves but forget the TPM, expensive, complex and lets riders think checking is a software thing.

in 18 months you'll get most of it in 'free pannier month' anyway. Version 2.0 of the bike will be out too by then with all the bugs ironed out.

That money would also get you a very nice XChallenge

I think you're missing the point. Nobody shells out £2791 over the counter for those accessories.
It goes onto a PCP purchase plan at £x/month over 2 years, with a flex option that allows you to upgrade the machine after 2 years and move the accessories with it.
See .... it's painless for a lot of folks.

£2791 is also half the value of my 8 year old 1200RT.

They do if they're cash buyer & I don't there's much discounting of stuff at present either

Whether cash, HP or pcp you're paying for it somewhere
