Hi All,

As (yet another) newbie, I'm intrigued by all the argument about which GS is better than the other. Such vehement debate suggests just maybe they all good, otherwise why would they have become a cult over the last 25years (not just since LWR)?

I've hankered after each of the GS models ever since a mate got a GS80 when they first came out, but there was always some other bike I wanted more at the time. Who cares what reasons a person has for choosing a particular bike, it all depends what they want from it, and the only issue is which one suits the individual the best.

Personally, I prefer low down grunt to a more urgent top-end. Therefore it's one of the last new 1150Adv SE's for me - I pick it up tomorrow and all your arguments will be lost on the breeze (that is if I don't drop it 'cos I haven't any platform-soled bike boots yet........).

KTM are bringing out a 950 with 120bhp? Having had a full power V-Max for 3 years/30,000 miles, and lost count of the no. of times I scared the merde out of myself, the thought of a traillie with a similar power to weight gives me a nervous tic - you're welcome to it!

Cheers Hanabi, that's the sole idea!
Now let's see what I've been missing these last 25 years

I am sure you will love it just as I do mine :thumb :clap

On the other hand.....over the past few months of dry grippy tarmac, I've often wished for another 20 bhp in my 1200. Now that we're back to cold slimy tarmac, 100 bhp is too much for most of the time.

Aussie, its looking good so far. My 10 mile journey back from the dealer ended up being 150 miles, must have lost my way or something....

Second time out, I racked up another 180 - never done that on any new bike before.

Going to have to try some tobinators though - I stood up on the pegs at 50mph and the wind noise evaporated. Sat back down and it sounds like there's a gale blowing.

Any GS is a good GS as long as you enjoy your bike. There are so many endless debates about what is best that you can lose track of riding and enjoying what you have. It isn't about WHAT you ride, but about THAT you ride. :bounce1
