So where's this then?

No idea, but if it's anywhere near Fortingall (Perthshire), can you please tell me as I am here with my DRZ and busting to ride it.

By the way, any idea what the clasification of the track up to Schehalion behind Glen Lyon house is?
According to my map, it is a double dotted line,......"other road or track".

Mike.

could it be...

Correct zdaveuk
I tried to do what you did but failed thanks to a timely dab!

Probably not worth the trip down as its not much of a challenge on a pogo. I did it with a nearly bald metz tourance. Apart from some wet grassy bits (one of which caused me to do a full on leg flapping manouver) its basically a rough forest track.
When OS maps mark 'other road or track' it does not infer its a ROW. The schiehallion track you describe definately isn't and that landowner will 'mistake' you for a deer and take potshots if you try it!

Boxertools.

The track leads to Glenmore Bothy, no doubt a shooting lodge.
If you take it by DRZ, you may come back down tied to the back of a Garron (hill pony used to bring shot deer off the hill).

Mike.
I went over there a few times 20+ years ago as part of the Aberfeldy 2 day trial (only route marking, not competing) crossing the tracks from West Tempar (on the Schiehallion road) to Fortingall.
As others have said, seriously doubt you'd be allowed up there now with a bike :(

Thank you all for your replies.
BB That is the very track.
I am staying in the house where the track runs through the garden and it is very tempting.
I went over to Loch Rannoch today and bumped into a Forrestry commision worker who pretty much said he would turn a blind eye to me riding the forestry tracks around there ,Only problem is, they are al locked up:( .

All very well if the track belong to the Forrestry Commision. I rather suspect thought, that it will belong to the estate through which it runs. If the gates belong to the FC, then I would think that the track is theirs too. The trick is to get a key, 'cos one keys fits all FC gates in Scotland. Trouble is, the FC charges a fortune for a key and want it back when you've finished playing. I've done the Tay Forrest Park with a couple of other members of the BMWC. We set the charge at £10 per person and made a crashing great loss 'cos no one else turned up. Still, it was a great day out. Just what the GS was made for.
Good luck if you do ride the track. :thumb2 :thumb2

A clue - its actually a public road.....

came across this road by accident two years ago whilst touring scotland, only rode to the bridge as we were loaded with camping gear, hope to get back there this summer and ride the whole road.:D
