Soft luggage on GSA

I use my BMW Rollbag all the time, no problems for me with the standard straps at all, it's never come adrift and I can get a weeks worth of kit in there, (Suit, shirts etc etc) with plenty of space for my laptop in its sleeve with power supply and mouse. Great bit of kit IMHO.

me too, even when i take the missus i never use the panniers, the large sport bag holds more than 2 panniers, i sold the panniers and never regretted it

Oretlieb Moto 90 l roll bag... 100% waterproof, valve to release air as the bag is "rolled" two ROK straps and jobs a good un...

I know you don't camp, so you would have no bother, and as others have said... Two straps and away, dead easy to carry into Hotel as robust handles are part of the design....

I can fit my tent, sleeping bag, roll mat and clothes into mine...

SW Motec Roll bag and two Rok straps. Loads of room for clothes, laptop, etc. The Rok straps are excellent:

Don't get hung up on the BMW brand

Ortlieb roll bags are far superior and easier to use

Plenty of other options too

Humvee has an excellent SW Motech system on his GSA

Halvassons do done great bags

How about some Wolfmans soft panniers, attached to your frames

Personally the thing I hate about bags on rear seat is

A) Weight high up on bike

B) All that hopping about, when you get on & off the bike is so tiresome

Lomo roll bag

Plus 1 for Lomo Watersports roll bag, great kit and fantastic customer service.
I used one on my GS last year for 2 weeks in Austria and with a top box the 40litre bag was plenty.
It opens from the top rather than stuffing things in from the end. For about £30 delivered:thumb2

60 litre Lomo bag fixed with a couple of rok straps. Plenty of room for my camping gear etc and my tenor ukulele. Have never bothered with the hard planners. :thumb2

Some more great options, cheers everyone. One thing that would be good is being able to use it on either bike, so that's another factor.

JB, I'm not particularly bothered about the BMW stuff, it was just my initial thought. I saw Steve's soft panniers at the Cotswold bash, and they looked good, but I just want something cheap and simple that I can just bung a few clothes in for a long weekend away. The longest that I'll be away for on the bike this year will be five or six nights, so a soft bag on the rear seat for my clothes, along with the locking topbox for anything valuable should be the perfect setup.:thumb

Good one, Ortlieb are best for me

I got an Ortlieb roll bag and sold my BMW Silver one,it was 10 times better and the zip on the BMW one is real PITA:(

I was going to say go for the Kriega option. I have a US30 and US20's, I can put the 20 or 30 or (30 + 20 on top) on the back (better with the rear seat off). Totally waterproof and brilliant, and can also use them on sports bikes too.

I popped into my local dealer on the way home yesterday, to see what it's like, and how it fits with the GSA top box, and the BMW stuff is not an option, as it intrudes on the rider seat too much when fitted to the pillion seat, and is very wide.

I also looked at the Kreiga 30 litre, and will go down that route. I could always add a 20 litre later, if I need more room, which will just clip to the 30 litre bag.

Thanks for all the ideas folks.:thumb

A quick update. I bought the Kreiga US10 to use as a tail pack for every day use, and a US30 to fit to the rear seat, to use with the Topbox for trips away. It's great quality luggage, fully waterproof, and can clip together very easily. For the tailpack straps, I joined the two together for the front, and another two for the back, and used a lighter to remove any frayed bits. It's nice and neat now.:thumb

The great thing is that I can swap Kreiga between both bikes now, as I have mounts on the other bike as well, so if I want to use the US30 on the R, or the US5 on the GSA, all mounts are already in place.:clap

I use inner bags in the Vario panniers, one then doesn't have to carry panniers into hotels, just leave them on the bike.

The BM roll bag does protrude a little if located on the passenger seat nest to the top box. However I am glad it did when my foot slipped when stationary and the bike went over.
The roll bag protected the bike and the top box! Agree though the zip is a pain.

Ortlieb waterproof roll bags. Held on with any straps. Cheaper than BMW bags. Better too.

Kriega bags are good too. I use a US30 every day for work, and at four years old it has at least that in it again. Their strap system is really good.

When I bought my new GSA I definitely wanted to keep this ( quite heavy ) bike as light as poss. So I use a couple of kreiga bags, and a Givi waterproof roll bag for longer tours. I have a US 10 and US 20. great pieces of kit. Givi waterproof roll bag is also excellent and very cheap. Think Bike mag are giving them away with subscriptions at the mo` Bargain!!

Easy to take off the bike overnight and as there are always a few of us on tour there is a always someone looking after bikes/kit anyway.

I honestly havent heard of anyones kit being stolen in the normal tourist areas, but a bicycle lock will suffice for prevention I would think.
