Ev. Can give us a masterclass in winter tarping. :)

If numbers work out do you want to book an evening meal at the nearby pub again

Can I just ask, WTF is this w/e in February? Is there something wrong with June or July, or am I missing the point? :nenau

Not generally regarded as a prime time for camping, and certainly not amongst "soft southern shandy drinkers", a description I only half identify with.

February is indeed not usually associated with outdoor activities, let alone camping.

The idea was put forward by The Other PaulG, during our last South East get together in South Kensington. The name of the gathering, along with the proposed date, came out of the same event. I simply turned the idea into some sort of reality.

Assuming the pub is open and dishing-up grub, then yes. I’d suggest the Friday evening would be best, for those that are there, with the BBQ on Saturday. Obviously it’ll be dark, given that it’s February. Best bring a torch.

The tank museum idea may or may not work out but hey, we can always go to the IoW. Bring your passport.

Its the souths equivalent of the double hard event, men, or soft southern shandy drinkers. 🤣, clearly we know which camp your in 💋

I am though up for this.. Friday night pub to save a faff…. Saturday BBQ and open fire … woolly hat etc…

And the fact I live just a few miles away is a glorious benefit, for if the food, weather or company is shite… I can feck off home.

i'll be down as a potential for this (will also be in 4 wheels). Will be tenting, but with electric if that's possible?!

The Tank museum is good. If you sign up to the BMCT, you can get in for free plus into Sammy Millers & the Beaulieu Motor Museum for half price too.

I'll give my Eberspacher D2 diesel heater in the T5 a damn good service, the bloody thing sounds like a jet fighter on takeoff otherwise and will smoke out half the campsite on startup.

Toasty warm in no time though.

Could me in, though if the weather's proper sh*te count me out as a certified SSSD... does cider count? :D I'll be caranexing I expect

They do even when serviced, the one in the saab, lived up to its jet fighter roots lol

Might have to see if i can get one of those butane tent heatery things

I’ve got a portable butane aerosol can powered radiant heater, it’s pretty good but I’d be worried about using it in a tent, especially the carbon monoxide issue as it’s a live gas flame.

If you have 240v ac supply available I can highly recommend a “Kampa Diddy” portable fan heater. Powerful and pretty safe, if knocked over they turn off. I use one as an awning heater.

Gentlemen - all this talk of the best way to heat your tent in winter is merely reinforcing the premise put forward by Richard in the title of the thread.

If we are to impress the Northern Tossers that frequent these pages, may I suggest a shift in emphasis to “If it’s below freezing I might need to keep me vest on”! ;)
