is anyone bringing a large enough grid/grate / plancha to cook the sausage on..4/5kg is quite long...might have to do shifts lads

I can probably cover that. How long is it….. ooooh matron.

Your heating problem sounds like a possible circulating pump issue, presumably inbuilt to the boiler (ALDE wet heating system?). If you have a heating expansion/header tank in a wardrobe check the level is correct, if an ALDE system these typically use G12 antifreeze (same pink stuff as VW engines). If the system has a leak the pump could be cavitation and the system need ventin

Thanks.

Yup, it’s an Alde ‘wet system’.

It was dark when I was up in Mill Hill looking at it and bloody cold. A job for Tuesday, I hope.

Yes please to the bacon butties Richard - and much appreciated too!

I’m rather partial to a bit of Don’s sausage, so pleased to hear he is going big!

I’ll take a slow drive down after work Friday so should arrive around 1:30 - 2pm, anybody else arriving early doors ?

Last time we did this, IanAK had set up his motorhome and gone home to get stuff so I was sat like Billy no mates for a few hours until Toddy arrived.

I don’t want to set up then find out everyone is pitching their tents miles away (unless it becomes a midnight snoring competition).

I think we are all going too be coralled into an area....just have too tell them your with Wappers group..
but probably around 12 too 13.00hrs...

Leaving work at midday , googs says 1hr 10mins, so make it 90 mins ;)

so should be there about 1:30- -2:00

i'll look for the brazier and old bike burning as the rendezvous

….if only I had room in the van for a trampoline and an old sofa. :D

The roads are still proper grotty (it is Feb!) so I’m coming down in the truck. Means I can also bring more camping stuff to be comfortable.
Aiming to be there for 3 to get the tent up.
Pub Friday night.
Walk to the lighthouse Saturday.
Rugby at 16:45
Strike camp with a hangover Sunday.

I do like a plan !

I hope to leave norf Lunnon (Mill Hill) around 13:30. Two and half hours, call it three. 16:30’ish.

Thanks Richard, yes please to the bacon.

For the braai we have boerie rolls and spuds so far. I would suggest that you bring anything also you fancy - Chops, corn, steaks. As has been mentioned, excess food can be repurposed. Better too much than too little.

Good news and funny/embarrassing/idiot news -

Good news - the Chequers were fine with our increased numbers for the dinner booking, and the menu choices have been submitted. So far so good...

Funny news - I just phoned the campsite to confirm my pitch - 'sorry, we're only doing hard standing at the moment and they're all booked'. Aaah...

I am a very happy 'tarp' camper, so will take myself off into the woods come night time, no probs. I've recced the satellite map and there are options nearby - it all adds to the adventure and I will enjoy that! However, so that I stay the right side of the campsite lady, I will pay the £18 per night, and just say I'm a guest of a motorhome. That way I won't get hassle as I come and go with the bike, use the facilities etc.

So if you too are working on the assumption that there will be 4 acres of vacant camping space available, maybe think again!

Doh! :doh:beerjug:

URGENT

It looks like it might be OFF.

I have just received this:

Hello Richard,

Unfortunately it looks like the ground is going to be too wet for the tents this weekend. Would you like us to cancel the hard standings as well or keep those booked in?

Many Thanks

Rosie

I haven’t replied but will need to ASAP!

Richard
