I would be more than happy to accept Pukky's kind offer of kipping under an awning - that would be quite comfortable. Is that a possibility for others, ie are there more awnings available and are campers happy with a slightly more (even more!) al fresco experience??
My greatest concern, is that if this cocks up, Don will have about 5kg of boerewors to finish on his own...
I dont mind doing an awning, as long as it has an easy exit - age & prostate mean trips to the loo

Just found one called honeysuckle homestead - nr salisbury, but has pubs & fires allowed - says open all year round but no availability this weekend
yet they say allyear round camping
Found one called Redlands breaks - more Dorset, has camping availabilty but not sure on wobblers and it looks like no fires etc
Huntick retreat Nr poole may have options for all - just checking it has but no pub near by
There is the Red lion Winfrith newburgh - its attached to a pub
they may have space for al,l i only checked camping

Living in the area means I don't know that many camp sites. The other one I know is closed but This one fits some requirements, but no hook up, so would be cold for southern softies. Anyone from north of Watford would probably find it tropical.
They're pretty hands off IME, fine with BBQs & fires and the restaurant on site is really good. Camping and restaurant are apparently open.
There is no pub within walking distance. The restaurant at Hive Beach is very good.

Its a do able distance for me - i dont need leccy i have fuel
barby 2x nights and chew the fat during the day
Assuming the hard standing pitches are not awash, I have got a wind-out Fiamma awning with groundsheet and a zip-around “privacy room” so it would keep the rain off one (or two sleepers at a push) but it’s pretty small, it would ideally suit a single camp bed off the floor.
I can also accommodate one person up in the pop top if they have their own sleeping bag/pillow. The pop top has a wrap-around thermal cover so it isn’t too bad (but I’ve never slept in it in February).
As a last resort, I have a Vango Hexaway airbeam awning that I hate using for anything other than longer stays, but it would have floor space to sleep about three people and is more wind and rain tight than the zip-on privacy room I mention above. It would let the daylight in at first light though if you are a light sleeper.

Plus the pub booking, I hope the landlord hasn’t bought extra stuff in yet for us to cater, the pub trade is struggling enough as it is so it would be a shame to cancel.
I don’t mind location in any respect. Just a place to sit sleep toilet and used to campers.
The other alternative for the 6 is to book a static van onsite, but that may prove expensive

Setthorns Campsite appears to have availability book a motorhome. I think the issue is we need 7 hardstanding and its half term. Not knocking the MH's but searching using pitch up or whatever probably filters availability out straight away. Its going to be a call and check thing..
