Shame that they have cancelled us, particularly as the rest of the week looks like being dry and relatively warm, but guess they don’t want their site trashed before the season has started properly.

Assuming there is no other option at the site (e.g. could they let us all squeeze together in a designated hard standing area), then happy to go with anywhere else that will take us. If that isn’t possible, then I guess we have no choice to re-arrange.

Cookie, Pukmeister and NeilDD have all requested that I cancel their hard standing reservations.

This I will do, cancelling my own reservation at the same time.

Richard

UPDATE

1. I have cancelled the four hard standing reservations I made.

2. The site has NO electricity hookups available for the dates 23 / 24 May.

Just spoken too a very nice lady at the Red Lion...
Did you email in last night...lol...

All bookings are via pitch up as they are the booking place for stays..she does not know at the time how many are left..
Food if going as a big group,..they would like numbers for food....plus what we would like...
Six Nations on the TV all weekend...

As regards the Red Lion, as tempting as it is, it’s a long way to drive a large motorhome from north London, only to then discover there is (possibly) no space / electric hookups available-up available.

Lol they say on there website not to use any other site for bookings, im tempted to book just to get a weekend away

@Wapping , it's not pitch up as in arrive, it's book via a site called pitch up, so if they have availability, you have a space , if that makes sense

I have just called the 7 Stars at Wool and yes they can accommodate us there are electric pitches no problem and no problem with the restaurant plenty of space
its a very easy going site with good access I have been there many times please let me know what you think and I will get back to them

1. Thanks for doing that.

2. Not so much a problem as I wouldn't be needing it for heating (hopefully).

Plus the pub booking, I hope the landlord hasn’t bought extra stuff in yet for us to cater, the pub trade is struggling enough as it is so it would be a shame to cancel.
I fully agree re the challenges the hospitality industry faces. Whatever happens this weekend, or not, it looks like the Chequers is off, so I will send a mail now with our sincere apologies.

So are we doing 7 Stars? I'm a yes for that

That way we can help the hospitality industry too and the tank museum poss

UPDATE

1. It has been agreed that it’s best to postpone the event at Hurst View Leisure until later in the year.

I suggest that those who made reservations for hard standing pitches off their own bat, contact Rosie and cancel their pitch. I have only cancelled the bookings I made.

Those who had tent reservations made by me, need do nothing, as Rosie has cancelled their pitch pitches unilaterally.

2. There is talk of a replacement venue being arranged, to take place on the Friday / Saturday of this week. To save thread overload and possible confusion, I’ll copy the key posts into a new thread.

I too am sorry about how things have turned out. But, better to have found out now than Friday noon.

Richard
