Hi All,
Got an optimate 80W solar panel which when unpacked follwing storage seems to be damaged and not working, never been used just stored in it's box until now. The damage pictured is about 20m long on the rear of the panel and goes through the material to appear on the front as only around 10 mm. It seems some of the threads are damaged so not sure if this is significant enough to stop it working or do panels tend to operate even if a section does not. The wooden spoon points to the damaged area on the panel to give an indication of how it positions relative the other sections, not sure if it is useful to know this.

Any thoughts on whether this may be fixed or junked would be appreciated as I don't have any experience with solar.
Thanks in anticipation.

Unfortunately I would say it’s junk, damaged in transit I would guess, pity, I have one which I carry in my motorhome to top up the starter battery and it’s been brilliant

Indeed, damaged in transit from a well known retailer, stupidly I did not unpack it when it arrived but when I did it was dirty even in the plastic inner bag so I suspect a display item.
