My first posting with pictures, here are some mods that i find very usefull. The first one is a simple solution to the accessory plug problem of where do I plug the teasmaid, electric blanket etc and cost me less than £14.00.
Quite simply I bought a 4 plug (1 into 4) accessory plug from Halfords. This does not come with the "12V" caps however, which can be purchased individually from your local Volkswagen dealer. An absolute doddle to attach the unit to the bottom of the RID unit using the 2 self tapping screws (supplied) and a little double sided tape. This has been on my bike for well over a year now and has performed faultlessly. It has been wired directly to a permanent live from the harness under the "beak"

Isn't that a bit risky? Surely it would have been better to run an independent fused supply directly from the battery?

Nice otherwise.

What Mike said....nice but unless you know what load the live from the beak you've tapped into is rated for (and how much spare you've got when whatever it was powering is powered up as well) you sound like you might be running the risk of burning that part of the loom out (or at least popping the fuse for that circuit regulalry)

I'd be inclined to take a decent thickness pair back to the battery direct, and fuse it accordingly.

Sorry to forget to mention, of course it is fused - done all very professionally by my superb BVM trained friend :thumb

Do you know how many amps the wire is rated at though???

A GPS may only draw 500mA but if you were to start using a heated vest plus another couple of things in that Multi-socket, I'd start to get worried

I just use it for GPS, mp3, phone charging etc so it shouldn`t be too much of a problem. Being an Adventure it still has the two plugs for "heavier" duties.
