Some of the World's Hottest Airheads

Why???

Why would you modify the bike to fit the 1100 swing arm and then fit the 100GS bevel box? :nenau

Surly the main point of fitting the 1100 rear end is to upgrade to a rear disc brake.

BTW Is it a big job to fit the 1100 swing arm to the 100GS Paralever?

I can't see the point of keeping the drum either
Got a disk on mine....Almost too powerful :D
Main reason is a massive improvement in suspension

Was it an easy conversion Garry, what did you have to do?

And what did you do to the front to compensate for the improved rear?

Val.

Well, a lot of the pictured airheads certainly do it for me (having said that, most airheads, modified or not, tend to :mmmm ).

I think I have a deep seated need to own an airhead - wonder if I could fit one alongside the 1100 without SWMBO noticing.....

Colossal amount of engineering - more about torque & twisitng forces of the top shock mounts and consequent frame design, than just adding the drivetrain from the 1100.

You also need to suitably space out the swing arm mounting area and strengthen

I figured it would be quite an extensive job. After all where do you put the battery

Does the cost and effort of fitting the 11/1150 swing arm override the improvements one would get by simply adding a top notch shock to the OE set up?
Plus; surly just by strengthening the OE swing arm and adding a good shock, you would gain the same benefits for less effort and less money? :nenau

looks more 1150 that 1100 and looks to have been shortened:nenau

Your right I hadn't realised it is the 1150 arm.

Putting the 1100 swing arm in is loads of work.
I have WP 50mm extreme forks in the bike and it handles the rough well ( no compaison to a standard airhead even with ohlins )
It's more than a match for my HP2 offroad and just as quick most of the time Cuz i can't use 100 horse power :blast

Battery fits just behind the airbox..But you will only get a small one in
You can see the carrier in this pic

Garry, What are the tabs on the front of the frame for, where you per chance going to fit the 1100 forks too?

Val.

Tabs on the front of the frame are for fitting the 45 Ltr HPN tank like this

Telelever front end for offroading  :pissl
