Afternoon chaps, here's a few photos of my recently acquired 80g/s. I've already posted a question about my leaking carbs (now sorted) but I need to tap into your combined expertise again if you don't mind on the following....
1/ I need to change the battery and assume the only way to do this is by removing the rear shock. Is the rear spring 'under pressure?' I.e. If I take out the top bolt will the spring expand and require a special tool to refit?
2/ As you can see, the front mudguard had been mounted wrong (low position). I need to either repair or replace it (did submitted a wanted request for this but no joy yet). Does anyone know what size/type the four mounting screws/bolts are that screw into the bracket below the headlight? Also, I take it there must be some sort of spacers involved to allow an adequate gap for the headlight cabling to pass between the mudguard and the bracket?
3/ The fork gaiters are perished but I won't attempt to replace these myself as it looks a bit of a job to take the forks off. I will however source them myself before I take it in. Any idea how much for a pair or will a 'cheaply' pair of a suitable size off eBay suffice?
Thanks

check the price of them at BMW they are not expensive. You can still get the g/s front mudguard too.
