It's intended as a Pogostick outing, however, I've ridden all the trails before (apart from the final 1/3 mile of the Devil's Highway - deep ruts) on a GS - some of the trails can get a bit muddy in places, so TKC80s recommended.

I hope it doesn't rain before next Friday - I'm convinced you won't get a GS down the Devil's Highway - and a couple of others are borderline

that should make it interesting, am I the only one on a GS on Friday?

I haven't heard back from Shrek 2 (he is usually on a 1150Adv) or Fredkat41 (he has a variery to choose from) yet.

You should be alright on the Devil's Highway - you don't have those wide sticky out bits and you also have a bit of weight advantage over a 1150Adv in the soft stuff ;)

The two fords at Bucklebury didn't have any water in them so we rode the dry riverbed between them :)

You may remember the track North of Chieveley, where Pondboy and I dropped it - with the big mound at the end - someone has ripped all the trees out on both side so it has gone from a few feet wide to about 40 feet wide - it looks a mess because the 4wds have been all over it - that could actually do with a bit of rain to soften the ruts they have left.

I saw Dusan today and circumstances permitting he'll be along too.

Nobody up for the Saturday option to the SW of Salisbury?

Or is everyone saving their leave passes for the Sunday Plain?!

:D

Eddy

Whats involved on saturday? If you are not too far from Bristol I might be able to steal the afternoon off!

I'm hoping to do the BOATS in sheet 184, that are to the South West of Salisbury itself.

A light day by the looks of things. If it's too light I'll venture North to Chitterne area too.

Eddy

Unfortunately eddy, I've gotta work saturday morning, and then doing the 30,000 mile service on my bike in the afternoon. Otherwise I would have been tempted. And I have family commitments for the other two days, so no can do either

One day i'll get on the plains...

So the Friday has some shape with Clive at the Helm.

Saturday looks like just me and Dusan?

Bakerman has kindly offered up local knowledge for a Sunday route on the plains, but it would help if I could pass group size....

Who's in for Saturday South West of Salisbury or on the Plain on Sunday (or both).

Thanks

Eddy

I hope to make Friday, will let you know asap. I'll be on an 1150gs on TKC 80s.

Just made it!!

Clive..etc

I can get a pass for Friday or Sunday but not both!!! Chain not long enough to stray that much.

Clive you mentioned earlier that Friday was for Pogo sticks, can I make it easily on a GS650? If not Sunday seems the most sensible option.

By the way its the only road bike I have at the moment!!!

Fred

Find the GREEN lane OPPOSITE THE CHARLTON CAT PUB at Rushall, go up that if you make it up without putting YOUR FOOT down or falling off your a TOP BLOKE

Rode past that this evening on the scenic way home from Bath - looks interesting :)

I'll leave which day for you to decide :)

I'm sure you'd be able to manage on Friday though if you decide on that - Carcher2k will be on his Dakar 650 (not sure what tyres he has) - there are a couple of "boggy" bits that I wouldn't attempt solo on my 1200 but they are easily bypassed.

i gotta get a new rear tire supplied and fitted beforehand for the DRZ, so i'll keep you guys posted

but sunday sounds good to me ...pencil me in :thumb

whats the plan,where/when we meeting?????

I'm using TKC's at the mo, so hopefully I'll be able to keep up :D
