I just bought a R1150R. Its purpose its for touring, while I know my way round a Yamaha or a triumph I know squat about BMWs.

The bike needs a birthday, its done 48, 000 miles and I've identified a few items that need looking at, but before I launch off I like to give a bike a thorough look over. So what are the typical things that need attention on these?

I'm looking at the shock on the front, is there a gaitor you can get for it, it seems placed to pick up maximum amount of crud?

I want a slighter large screen....options?

Engine bars, are they a gimick or will they really save the pots if you drop it.

There's no tool kit on the bike, is this normal or is it just missing?

The rear disc picked up an advisory on the MOT as its worn...where'd go for reasonably priced good quality parts....not into fitting cheapo parts as past experience shows they fail after a short time, usually at the top of a mountain somehere.

Steptoe sells discs and pads at good prices, he wont sell crap, hes away at the moment though, he also sells head guards, made off alloy, and I know he has a batch ready, at 48k miles, you may want to change shocks, they dont really pick up the crud, as they are fairly high up, you'll have to buy aftermarket screens for a r1150r, but I cant help there, tool kit is missing, buy one of ebay, or put one together, do a search :thumb2
