Sooo many problems with WC 1200's

Although I got rid of mine after 16mts I wouldn't say it was a poor bike, quite the opposite infact.

There where just 3 things that spoilt the whole experience for me.

1...The bloody awful gearchange.

2...The fuelling made it difficult to ride slowly without slipping the clutch all the time

3...The suspension was not all it was cracked up to be.

For some bizzare reason BMW wanted to put a new engine and gearbox in it.

In retrospect I think the biggest mistake I made was to pay for the bike when I bought it,it became mine rather than BMW's

But they say every cloud has a silver lineing and after 25yrs of BMW ownership I have moved on to pastures new and am enjoying my new steed with a passion.

16metres must be a record :D

I think you must have been triply unlucky. My gear changes on a 2013 are generally slick barring an occasional clunk in first or second. My fuelling seems perfect, never had a need to slip the clutch more regularly than any other bike. And the suspension is just superb - best I've ever experienced.

I guess every factory spits out a lemon from time to time

You may need to do some advance riding training to clean up those changes, and learn to ride slowly. (snigger snigger) :P

I seem to have hit a nerve among some here! I did have KTMs - 3 of them. Each one had it's issues which ultimately put me off a fourth. Those problems have haunted me: There's nothing worse then watching your mates ride off in to the sun set while you sit and wait for rescue. A big difference between the KTMs and the BMs are/was the price. I would not be happy bunny to have paid £14k for a bike and still be left at the road side.

Love Katy.

Hotter Heated Grips

Issues I have had are - tyre availability caused by Michellin but happily resolved by BMW, screen pin and petrol filler cap both replaced under warranty. Things that could be improved on my bike, gearbox is poor and heated grips temperature could be improved.

At my 6k service, was told I'd had a software update that somehow improves the performance of the HGs. Did a quick forum search but couldn't find any other reference to it?

They DO seem better than they originally were, I actually had to switch to the lower setting due to them being too hot the other day (British summers = cold rainy weather at times)
(Bring on the heated seat option like the c650 Scooter) Fab.

I also had a recall for a circlip fitment to the output shaft oil seal.
