On a recent 10 hour ride, my arse was toast after about 3 hours.
I had read various comments about the KTM seat being uncomfortable but I never had a problem riding for a couple of hours.

Now, with the return journey coming up I was not looking forward to it. What to do?
I ordered a pair of cycling undies with gel pads in.

All I can say is they work. Yes there was a little discomfort, 6 or 7 hours into the trip, but nothing like the outward trip.

I bought Solo Actfit (€21,99) from Amazon in Germany but there are loads of them on the market.

There was much piss taking from my mate that ordered them for me because they look like a baboons arse when inside out :D

The only ‘compromise’ with using cycling shorts is that they are most likely designed for when you’re in a forward lean, a bit like on a sportsbike.

I’ve got some Moto Skiveez.

More expensive but they do different ones for Adventure, Sport and Cruiser riding, where they padding shape and fit is tailored to your riding position based on what style of bike you’re on.
I’ve had all three styles and they really work.

I have never had a bike that is "all day comfy"

Over the years i have adopted a riding style to keep me moving.
when on slower roads i stand up.

i know its not the done thing, but it means i can do 10 hour days with 1 or 2 stops for breaks.
the trick is NOT to wait until your arse is already aching, but to do it regular-ish say every 30 mins.
just standing for a minute at a time stops the ache

i did 7 days in scotland years ago each day was up to 10 hrs, and was sat down all the time only stopping when my arse ached
by day 5 my arse hurt permanent... got home and i had piles!! not pleasant if you have ever had them :(

So standing sounds extreme, but i've never had piles since lol

you can stand at 50-60mph on the motorway too... which will surprise a few people.
off road bikers do this regular, 60mph stood is normal.
but only do it on quiet sections... you get funny looks lol

if your riding country roads its out of sight, and you can see over walls and hedges for oncoming traffic :)

I’ve not had much success from cycling shorts, but I find a shaggy sheepskin pad does indeed make my GSA all day comfy.

It’s a case of finding what suits yourself.

+1 for Moto Skiveez. Much needed for Urban GS, even with the Wunderlich Aktiv seat...

One thing you can guarantee is that if a motorcycle manufacturer makes a "Comfort Seat" as an option the original seat will very uncomfortable. Its become a tread over the last 10 years and is now a very good DIG (Dealer Income Generator).

The real answer is to get a well-designed seat - I have a Bill Mayer on my ADV.

I generally use a sheepskin seat cover (Barb at Alaska), unless it's going to be raining hard.

When I borrow Jorge's standard ADV, the seat for which was outlawed at Nuremberg, I use an Airhawk (or similar), with the sheepskin on top. The Bill Mayer really makes my ADV an all-day seat, though...

Agreed.
The best seat is a firm seat that doesn’t feel comfy when you first get on but stays like that all day and never gets uncomfortable .
Best seat I’ve ever had was probably my Renazco on my 701LR.
Good enough for a 680 mile 13 hour day

How many laps of the island did you do lol ;)

+1 For the MotoSkivees, well worth the coins, I initially felt short changed as they "didn't do much" , then I realised that was the point, they just get on with it. After a long day, I wouldn't say I was fresh, but no where near as bad as I used to be. Changed from Sargent to a Wunderlich and noted a massive improvement too. Absolutely brilliant bits of pant.

I have the Skivees / adventure padding option ,

but it wonder if the cruiser option would be better, as i have a low seat, so sit flatter

expensive way to find out though lol

You can get a lot of padded horse riding underpants for men (and women). Lyra stretch stuff and padded where you need it. Google is your friend.

I used to have a sheepskin seat cover. It made quite a difference. I then got a Corbin seat and it really is all day comfy. :bow
Andermatt, Austria to Snetterton, Norfolk in one ride. :thumb2

Last time I was in Andermatt it was still in Switzerland!
