My Bike is coming to the end of it's 3 year warranty in 2 weeks and I've had no problems until today. It's booked in with Sytner Motorrad in Cardiff for it's end of warranty check on the day before the warranty expires. I have taken out the BMW extended warranty.
The SOS system has thrown up a warning. I checked the bike with my GS-911 and the fault is Open circuit on the speaker. I cleared the fault but I came straight back.
Looking at previous posts, it might be a software update or a new switch.
Any one had recent experience with this fault and what was the fix?

Dave.

Comes up on mine now and again and then clears itself. Was supposed to be a software fix but that never happened.
Just forget about it.

I had the SOS warning a couple of time some time ago now and it sorted itself out. It can be a connectivity or signal issue that's localised, but if you've logged it with BMW whilst still in warranty I'd assume you're covered. Especially so if you're extending the warranty.

Had the same warning repeatedly coming up.Replaced the sos button and all good since. If your bike is under warranty the dealer should sort it.

Open circuit on the speaker means the switch on the handle bar is faulty. A replacement switch costs about £70 and is a straight old one off, new one on replacement. No coding etc needed. I did mine on my 2019 r1250gs. I would imagine that dealer would replace this as part of your warranty.

I had SOS general failure alerts lots when the bike was new. Along with other annoyances.

Replaced the battery eventually. Hasn’t been an issue since.

Mine started throwing up faults while in Norway last September. Bike was under warranty so booked in and I believe had a software update.

I had same with my 1250 GSA (from New) .. PIA and then I put a decent quality battery in (the original seemed a bit pants and and seemed to have a hole in it where all the electrons fell out) plus the software update .. this seemed to resolve the issue .. ultimately resolved it by buying a different BMW and scrubbed the SOS option from it.
