is there any body that has fitted a radio to a gs connected to an autocom system?

i want to fit a car sterio in the topbox, but the ignition makes a ticking sound on the walkman i use at the moment, so unles i can get rid of the ignition noise i won't bother.

is there a supressor i can fit to the ignition side to stop this sound?

i like tapes but prefer the radio to listen to.

Try a pm to Alandelph........

I know he's fitted a small Portable RDS Radio to his Autocom made by Roberts.

Smaller than a normal Car unit and neatly packaged, even has a pair of in-ear speakers that have a retractable lead hidden in the rear of the Case..........

Can't remember which one it was, have a look around..

Years ago (when i was a 16 yr old parts boy at Halford LOL!!) they used to sell radio suppressor kits that took out the RF interference from the spark plugs/leads etc.....I guess anything more modern has it all fitted as standard 'cos i have'nt seen them for sale (not that i've looked so i may well be wrong) but possibly BWM don't supress the RF from the ignition on GS's?

Might be worth asking your friendly techy 'cos they sell radios for RT's etc so they must have some sort of supression built in somewhere...

the system is already suppressed its the injectors that interfere with the radio now go work out how to suppress them!!!;)

The solution must be out there in the BMW parts as my RT has a radio fitted and it has no interference from injectors.

Not helpful I know but a thought.

Yes I have a radio fitted! I bought a digital radio (DAB) , and I also have an Ipod , and use the same lead for both through an Autocom (but not 2gether!!).....I don't have a ticking sound.........
You can find the radio here

thanks so far for all the advise but i bike to a budget thats quite small, thats why i want to use a s/hand rds radio/cassette player,
so anything over £50 and swimbo won't play ball.

i'm calling autocom tomorow to see what they can suggest.

Just a thought, but could it be that the Walkman you are using, uses the headset lead as an arial and that is what is picking up the ticking noise.

I have used a walkman and also an MP3 jukebox with radio through an Autocom without any noises or problems (other than jumping on the MP3's on rough roads)
