Picking R80gs up from Oxford in a week or two. I need to get the off road tyres changed for some tourers. Could anyone recommend the best tyres and the best place to have this done.

There id a gut at NTS at Barnsley that is famous around there for his help and service
I was told he does a take the bike and he will sort it out for yer service
I would ring to talk and order tyres and sort the price out

I love Anakees on my r100 GS some like the tourances
I have yet to see tourances worn right down on the sides Anakees can do
( to be fair the anakees are slightly less round profile )
HTHY
and save us the off roaders :thumb2
if there is much left on um - if you dont save them for yerself first of course :thumb2

tourances are good and popular. i also like the continental escapes or i think they are called trail attacks and are a bit cheaper than tourances.

If the tyres are TKC80's, they will tour where ever you like just as well as any of the more expensive tyres.

We have three bikes 1200gs 650gs and 100GS, all fitted with TKC80's all year round including a 2700 mile tour of Europe on the 12 & 650 loaded up with camping gear.

Personally I get over 10'000 mls from a rear on my 1200 and I can scrape my boots in the corners, they are also more puncture resistant.

Obviously tyres are a personal thing for each of us, but give the TKC's a chance. You might get on with them just fine. :thumb2

Ooh so much choice. There is a little bit of vibration but then the back wheel is out of square by about 3mm. I will confirm the tyres make before swapping.
Thanks for advice so far keep opinions coming.

Tourances for me everytime. Ive tried the others and always go back to the Metzeleres.
I think there is a tyre place in Leeds that has a good reputation, for price and fitting etc.
Bug***rd if i can remember the name BUT they advertise at Squires cafe nr Sherburn.
Give Squires a ring and im sure they'll know who it is in leeds

I like Metzler Enduro 3's for a good mixed tire. Plenty of grip on the street and you can still do a bit of dirt if the need arises.

Avon's Gripsters are also popular over in NA. I've used them on a R100GS with good success. more of a road tire - good wear for touring. Not sure if these are still being made, I think they were off the shelf for a while.

canukgser.......Canada to Mexico! I could take you from Bogna to Barrow if you fancy an exchange. What rubber did you wear and what bike were u on for the big trip?
