Hi.
I'm having a problem with my SA map on the sd card. I have BMW Navigator 4 and i bought a map of South America on sd card from this forum, which works on Zumo 660, but BMW Nav 4 doesn't read the map.
Do you know why??
In theory, Zumo 660 and Nav 4 is the same device, so where is the problem?
Please give me some help.
Thanks.
Bernard

I might guess that the map is coded to a specific device, that device being the 660 of the bod you bought the card from.

If you are in an emergency, load open street maps of SA onto another card.

Thanks for advice.
Its not urgent
I' ll call to garmin tomorrow and ask them what can i do.
Thanks
Bernard

Not sure that's true.

My USA and Canada maps on MicroSd worked fine on 660 and still works now I have a 590.How would the maps be coded ? They are on a MicroSD card designed to switch between devices ?

Not - I guess - if the vendor fellow bought the maps via a download direct from Garmin, maybe in South America.

Some more details of the card and its source might be handy. There again, it might just be some bikermate at one end, flogging off a shonky SD card and / or user error at the other end. Time will tell.

Looks like it might be possible to get them here for free: http://ozboss-wbt.blogspot.co.uk/2010/04/garmin-city-navigator-version-mapsource.html

True, though I don't think it's very easy to download to an SD card in that way.But my twat nav knowledge is no where near yours.

True, though I don't think it's very easy to download to an SD card in that way.

It's reasonably easy, even for a complete IT numpty like me:

https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/map...y-navigator-southern-africa-nt/prod15535.html

The next link suggests that downloaded maps are device specific, whilst ready made cards (that cannot be updated) are interchangeable:

https://support.garmin.com/support/...caseId={16315fb0-39b2-11de-5dd5-000000000000}

The note on the page is maybe interesting:

Note: Before selecting your purchase option, be sure to review the requirements tab and products tab on the specific mapping product pages to ensure your device and/or computer will work with the selected format.

I recently asked Garmin best option for their map of Australia. They advised to psy extra for the card option rather than the download option as it will be interchangeable and not device specific.

Hi.
The map is dawnloaded version .
Bernard

I'm still guessing that downloaded versions are device specific, coded to the specific device to which the download was first made.

I can only suggest that you call Garmin to see if:

1. They can be persuaded to free the download for you to use

2. If they won't, whether they will free it for use by paying them to unlock it and / or sell you a fresh download

And have music loaded on :

Surely it works in the early morning then ?

Hi
Wapping was right, in regrards to the specific device.
I called garmin, regarding my problem and informed that if the map was downloaded to specific device, I can't use it on another device.
So, gentlemen, if you plan to buy a map for one trip, please buy it on an sd card. Life will be easier.
