I had a lot of bikes over the last 40 years and have just bought my first BMW from Southern Motorcycles in Caterham, Surrey.
Never has a BMW before but this is definately the most impressive motorcycle dealer I have ever used.Whether it's the dealer or just the BMW quality image and all dealers are like this, I don't know but overall I was very impressed. Very professional and very friendly.
I wondered in on an open day wearing jeans and bomber jacket but no problem getting a 1 1/2 hour test ride or borrowing a helmet (had not ridden a bike for some years). When I later visited them to order the bike I really felt like a valued customer and my experience on taking delivery was beyond reproach. Everything about the bike was carefully explained and demonstated, I was introduced to the service manager and waited while a tiny streak or oil was carefully removed from the paintwork. While all this was happening my wife was being entertained in their very smart espresso bar.vFinally all the documents were presented in a very nice laptop computer bag (must phone to tell them they forgot to put the laptop in ).
The best bit was when I phoned later in the day with, what seemed like, a problem with the ABS, they did not make me feel like an idiot although I later found that if I had read the manual properly it was all a bit obvious.
In comparision my wife and I visited a Mercedes dealer in Croydon last week and spent half an hour looking around the cars while being completely ignored by the salesman although we were the only people there.
