I have udated to the 6.1V looking at some of the threads I have also clear me data card and installed the 6.1 V Mapping on the card of uk did this via USB

I have cleared all my old waypoints of the GPS itself and old routes

Ok

on my P.C I have a folder called (gps routes) and I have named each one depending on route example

Hogroast route
home to campsite 1

the routes have been made using the 6.1V as well

so tonight I wanted to load a route in my GPS so I inserted data card into USB corect way pushed fully home
slected my route showed all info on my P.C i.e route waypoints etc
Pressed the send to device button got all the relevant boxes appear last one being (data transfer ok) or words to that effect
I get the data card insert it into GPS HOUSE pushed fully home
right way round etc
turned on GPS WENT TO FIND then LIST AND NO ROUTES APPEARED
What have I done wrong
When I was running 6.0V everything worked ok as I remember

Aha - made the same mistake meself! Only maps go onto datacard. You need to connect the serial lead and transfer waypoints, tracks and routes as these reside in a different memory area of the device.

Don't, however, try to transfer maps via serial connection 'cos this will take about 8 hours. DAMHIK!

so my data card has uk on it
so once I have connected serial lead

I select my file i.e home to campsite 1

I press save to device

and the route waypoints etc are all saved to my GPS in
a different memory area

is that right

Well thats bloody clever I dont remember using
it like that before
oh well age is catching up with me
or is just the beer makes me forget

I will try it tomorrow just waiting for my everyreadys
which are now not so ready to charge up

Thanks for your inputs

If it helps

The dialog box in send to device asks if you want to send maps, routes, waypoints and (I think) tracks. Just untick what you don't want to send.

2 leads
2 devices.

USB lead to card programmer= map sets.

2nd lead from PC to back of GPS has Garmin terminal for GPS so cannot get it wrong = tracks, waypoints routes etc. These go into unit memory and not the card.

Hey...............

Rooster, Whatton, John, Andy.......

You guys are REALLY GOOD at new user support!

I think I am going to take a vacation next month, and go ride my motorcycle. The forum will obviously be in good hands with you folks around.

NO DON'T LEAVE!

Boundless is about to plunge into Nav 2 ownership. Speaking for myself I don't think my two weeks of troubled SPIII ownership will give me an inkling into the questions Boundless could come up with when he starts using the device. ;)

yes it works simple data card for maps serial port for routes waypoints etc
easy as piss done it before just dont get time to do routes all the time and forgot how
thanks for the help
now I remember why I invested in a 2nd data card

must stop drinking it makes me forget

still working on my 2nd question for you old hands :D
but I will consult the instruction book first thanks Howard for
