I've just got an SP3 and want to keep it in pristine condition. On the Touratech mount its fine. But I've got nothing to keep it in when its securely stowed on the topbox. Are there such things as cases for SP3s?

Or if you like wasting money, you could buy the BMW Navigator case, which fits perfectly, and is a snip at £25!! Can't imagine what sort of person would buy one of those :blush :blush

Regards,

Charles

I use the (empty) amenity kit bags that the airlines give out when you travel intercontinental business class on overnight flights. They seem to be just the right size to fit a GPSR. I've got about 75 of them at home under the bathroom sink, should keep me in stock for a while...

If you don't do a lot of travel, just look for one of them at a flea market or similar - should not cost more than $5 and they work perfectly.

One additional suggestion re: carry cases - regardless of what kind of carry case you get, scarf a facecloth from one of the better hotels and keep it folded in the bottom of the carry-case. Place the GPSR in screen-down so that the screen rests against the facecloth, which will protect it against abrasion when it is in the carry case.

This is especially important with the SP III, which has an anti-reflective coating that is somewhat fragile, and with the SP 26xx series, which use the touch-screens.

Inter-continental business class!! It may be a while before someone pays to send me on one of those. Looks like the £2.99 Umbro approach may be the one.;)

I have hollowed out a sandwich loaf 800g left a bit of the crumb for protection, fits in a treat.

Keep it in the bread bin in the larder, nobody robbers will ever fine it.

I lost it last week untill I remembered were I had put it .

Mended

Hey, great idea with the sandwich loaf, but ya gotta make sure you use WonderBread or some other kind of artificial crap like that which contains no known natural ingredients. If you use real bread, the stuff that contains wheat, it gets stale after a few days, and this can cause scratches on the GPSR screen. The Garmin warranty explicitly excludes repair of scratches caused by storing the GPSR in real bread.

Bastard

How am I going to clean my keyboard now? I just spat half a cup over the damn thing when I saw that bloody picture!

I don't know if I'm impressed at the lengths to which this has gone or worried for the residents of Andover that they let Bakerman near sharp implements...
