Does anyone have one of the above they could let me have?

I'll pay postage etc.....

I haven't checked to see if I can get on from BMW yet, without buying another FPC.

I have a spare FPC with the o-ring, happy to get the o-ring to you if you are stuck...or the whole lot if it helps
Give me a call if you want 07779 690942

Thanks - I'll see if I can get 1 off BMW and was thinking of using silicon sealer instead....I'll give you a bell if I need your O-ring.

FPC is fine - it's the new one...only the O-ring was nipped and on Friday in all that rain, the hole where the FPC fits filled with water, shorting the feed to the pump....took me a while to work it out.
Dried it out and WD40 and it's been fine for 2 days, but I binned the knackered gasket.

FPC recepticle had a 5mm of water in the bottom of it (since Sat noon) so dried it all out and Vaselined all the connectors (stoppit) and put a bead of clear silicon sealer instead of the gasket...

..we shall see....

I read a post on here once that suggested taping a length of wick vertically to the side of the metal casing the FPC is sat in - To "wick" the moisture away?
My 55 plate has a plastic cover with vents in it, that covers the fuel pump - The newer ones don't have one???

I bet if you remove the cover, it is holding water, its easier to mop out without the cover...thats why I removed mine and have never refitted it anyway

Correct! Also smeared mine in vaseline "Come on you've been told once" and although I did re-fit the cover, I do check it now & then.

I pointed out at Clarks BMW that new 1200s don't have a cover - and should I remove mine? He said "I can't recommend you doing that":nenau

Yes... TRUE the cover was eliminated....
but after FPC issues with many bikes,Dealers started replacing the covers on bikes that did not have covers.
Mine now has the cover and it DOES help keep out some water.
Besides,it's so easy to reach through the steering head from under the triple tree area, remove the cover and soak up any additional water resting in there.
Better WITH than WITHOUT...!
2 years ago I posted photo's of the ADDED silicone repair I did to my newly replaced FPC.
20,000+ miles and countless of HIGH PRESSURE washings and NO problems..!

I was looking at a brand new 10 plate without a cover, when I asked if I should remove mine! One of the mechanics told me to soak the lot in spray wax "thats all we do" he said.

It is a crap design - no question! The angle the pump leans at, means even a small ammount of water sits directly on top of the FPC:blast

I will leave my cover fitted also - it just seems to make sense.

Stick the cover on and glue gun up the gaps in between. The FPC doesn't get hot and so doesn't need them.

The water wass below the FPC in the hole where it fits, so I've siliconed the surface between them, instead of the twisted and nipped O-ring.

They finished the new FPC black for a reason - to get rid of heat.

Cover stays off.

:P

The water comes through the plastic panels and drips onto the cover if fitted, and through the holes if it's really raining hard.

I suggest sir goes for a ride and puts his hand on the black FPC unit, you'll find it's warm at best. :thumb

It was painted black to prevent the electrolysis (furryness) of the pins. :rob
