Spare keys...

Ordered an antennaless key from Reiten Motorrad yesterday, it was about £20. They’re going to text me when it’s ready. Great service!

I’ll then be able to keep the radio key safely tucked away in stead of having to keep getting it out to unlock and lock panniers.

Apparently you can order a spare plastic antenna key for about 45 quid to keep in the wallet in case you lose your jacket or trousers with the key fob inside, bit extreme but you never know the thieving scrotes will try to nick anything that is not bolted down.

Got my spare key from BMW about £22 if i remember, Timpsons didn't want to know.we are not allowed to do those sir.

Was that the plastic one or a metal one?

I went into my local key cutters yesterday, trying to get a spare key cut for my 2017 bike. I don’t need an electronically coded key, just one to unlock boxes/GPS/seats...
“You can’t get them mate. You have to go to BMW and they charge a fortune”
I can’t believe that’s true... is it?
Assuming it’s not, where have you guys got them from?
The only thing I can think is that they got their wires crossed thinking that they were going to supply the fob as well. You can also but the blank keys on eBay
As I said cost me £10, well worth it as I don't have to use the fob to open the panniers etc.

No - I was quite clear about it. It was a Timpsons, and as someone else mentioned, some of their stores seem to operate a policy of "being chuffing awkward"

20 quid keys are metal with no antenna, apparently the black plastic one,s with antenna that can start the bike are 45 quid.

Yep easiest thing to do, being in Germany keys are ready in 24 to 48 hours. so no real big difference from the UK
