Hello!
No question or problem, just some information about spare keys. When I got my GS (god knows how many hands bike it is, certainly more than secondhand...). It only came with 1 key and the plastic thingy.
So began to search how and where to get a spare one. Didn't start at the dealer, because they are "expensive". local locksmiths all wanted the bike or the ecu there to program the transponder. Costs going up to well over 120 euros for just programming without cutting the key, cutting it would add another 20 euros. Sending the ecu back and forth would take up to 2 weeks.
Out of curiosity I did contact the dealer. Low and behold, it was by far the cheapest and easiest option available. Didn't even need to bring in the bike for programming. Got 2 spare keys at 70 euros each. Still expensive for a key, but by far the cheapest option. Ordered Tuesday and they arrived today, fresh from Germany. As it turns out "they only keeps 2 at the factory" is also not true that, my new keys are number 5 & 6...
Long stort short, dealer isn't the most expensive option by default. For me by far the cheapest, fastest and easiest solution thus time.
