Spares advice.

Hi guys, I'm going for a 2 week trip around Europe next month on my R1150GS and was wondering if there were maybe any mechanical issues I should be prepared for. What spares i am likely to need etc.
All help will be appreciated.

No need for any spares. Two weeks in Europe is not a big risk.
You can find BMW service in many places.

Just check your brake pads before you leave.

Might be worth taking a bit of oil Pekka - depends whether it's stopped using it.

Other than that Breakdown/recovery is a must.

Höh. You can buy standard mineral oil anywhere.
It happened to me in Estonia once. Oil light on. Next petrol station and some oil in. Cheap and no problem.

Cool, well that all sounds rather promising. The breakdown/recovery is already sorted so thats good. I just wasnt too sure as I have heard different stories about the reliability of these bikes, but it hasn't given me any grief (yet.)

Break down cover is essential especially if you BREAK DOWN!, I broke a collar bone and good old RAC recovered bike from Italy.

Just give the bike a good head to toe inspection, especially tyre condition and wear and as mentioned brake pads then hop on the bike and enjoy yourself!!

- Check oil level daily just to be on the safe side.

A pack of spare bulbs and a High-Viz vest is a good idea, takes up feck all room and is a legal requirement in France anyway AFAIK.

*******Read the small print on the breakdown policy to make sure you have continuation of journey and repatriation of the vehicle back home included.********

I had an incident with Adelaide last year when a camchain tensioner failed on my old Varadero and when I needed it most i was informed I could have either A. 1 hrs roadside assistance B. A tow to the nearest authorized repair agent or C. A tow up to a maximum of 15 miles!!!! Absolutely useless when I was in Strabane Up Norf, and needed to get home to Dublin. Ended up costing me a fortune to hire a van to bring the bike home myself and I had to drop the van back up too.

So you're right to be worried Although maybe the report was about 1200GS
