Got some goodridge speed bleeders. Worked brilliantly, easy fluid change. However, the speed bleeders are too long. Although they're up to torque and don't leak I'm a bit nervous as they don't tighten up to the bolt edge on the front callipers. Best to remove?

It's just a thought, but some of those bleeder nipple have an actual point on the end (the end that screws into the caliper). I believe the BMW versions need a flat rather than a point. You might need to get a file to them...

Speed bleeders are totally unnecessary on BMWs. They're the easiest brakes to bleed ive ever known. Even in the dealership, we use a £3 plastic bottle with the one way ball bearing removed.

Each to their own.

I think they're great. Way less mess and uber convenient. And that view comes after years of the bottle + spilt tube affair.

I would have thought that in a workshop situation you'd be happy to meet a speed bleeder after all that pfaffing around?

On some bikes, yes !!!

But BMWs I have excellent masters cylinders and even the abs pumps allow bleeding with almost zero drawback.

And when bleeding brakes, its far easier to see any potential problems without speed bleeders or similar toys.

Yep, never understood the point of them, or why they're called speed bleeders and i've never once needed or thought i needed them.

You have to do the same thing to bleed the brakes whether using a speedbleeder or a standard bleed nipple.
