Speed cameras in Scotland to go 'dormant' after driver improvement

Well that's a positive outcome. 
Have the driving standards improved so much that the cameras are no longer making any revenue ??
fixed cameras are expensive to maintain. Not many left around here or where I used to live in Gloucestershire. Prone to mishaps and need to send people out to clean lenses, calibrate them etc. No indication in that report about stopping the use of mobile units that are a lot cheaper to maintain, rarely get vandalised and can be rotated around high revenue sites at ease.
If it's known that cameras are switched off, speeding will go up. End of.
I got the impression it was about mobile units.

As such, Safety Cameras Scotland announced that it would be pausing live deployments at sites across the country as they no longer meet the criteria for enforcement.

Anyone heard of someone caught by the average cameras around Crianlarich to Tyndrum?
They talk of nothing else around here.
When the A90 cameras were switched on, the then Chief Constable said you really would need to be hammering on to get done on the average cameras, whatever that meant.
But what I would say is that when I used to commute each day on the A90 in my car, it was a vast improvement with the new cameras. Nice and relaxed.
Of course I try wherever possible to never ride my bike on these types of roads, I mean what's the point.

I find the A9 in a Transporter both frustrating and baffling to be honest,They don't mention, I think, the beloved average speed cameras on the A9 and A90
The fact a National Express coach full of pensioners bound for Pitlochry can pass me 10mph faster just seems wrong.
And judging by the way all the other commercials and HGV's motor on, they clearly know something I don't?
I'm fully aware I'm dithering past boxes that aren't plugged in, but it's better than dreading the postman for 2 weeks after I get home
There was a trial limit of 50mph for HGV's a while back, maybe the other commercial traffic is using that as a reason?

Went up to Dalkeith today and all of the cameras on the A697 from the border were covered and out of use, mind you they did have an unmarked camera van in one of the 20mph villages
