My 100RT has a speedo prob where the needle is fairly unsteady, wafting fairly smoothly and consistently back and fore... sometimes as much as 10+ mph officer... It's not too much of a prob and seems to be a common thing on some of these old boats... Can it be fixed, does it eventually just shit out, should I just but a WC and be done with all this old tat...?:D

The speedo on my 100GS did that for a long time then one day it wrapped itself around the stop and broke the needle.

It cost me a new speedo (as repairs were going to take in excess of three months :blast).

So it could be a sign of terminal decline :nenau.

Bob.

I was talking crap as it's more like 5mph waggle especially as the speed goes past 60-70 but it is still accurate enough... If it can be fixed ten I would have a crack but if it's going to kaput one day, I'd better start saving...:)

If it's accurate, then there's something wrong with it!

:) Accurate in a pin the tail on the donkey sort of way...:) I tested it with the sat nav and it very slightly under reads at 70 mis "waggle"... I once had an ex-plod KLT which has an calibrated speedo... No 10% bullshit with that one...:)

sometimes the speed cable outer sleeve twists , usually when your have tightened it up rescently, this makes the inner skip making the needle flicker,, Undo the outer and carfully retighten it, It may help..
