When starting the engine from cold and while its running on higher idle, I have recently noticed that the speedometer is doing a bit of a funky blip around the 0 mark. More like a pulse, it blips up a couple of milimeters, barely visible, and down again.

Its does not appear to happen on normal running when the bike is stopped at lights etc..

What is it? Whats the speedometer got to do with anything when the wheels are stationary...? Can it be related to the rear wheel sometimes slightly scrolling fwd when on the center stand I wonder?

Has anyone noticed?:guitarist

if the wheel is rotating why don't you put the brake on and see if the speedo stops?

sounds like a dodgy speed sensor to me.

where would it be located if it was that and how expensive/difficult is it to replace?

On speed readings also:

Has anyone ever compared the Garmin GPS read outs to the sppedo? Mine are over 10% different at 70-80mph with the speedo overreading...

GPS true 69-72mph whilst speedo is squarely on 80.... its too much innit?

On my 05 1200GS the speedo is bang on to the Garmin readout.

My 07 over reads about 3mph at 70 compared to Garmin. If you reset the average speed feature whilst noting the Garmin readout then its bang on.
