SPIII - PC Interface Lead Question?

Right, just finished loading Mapsource V6 & V7 on the new (repaired) laptop.

So I then thought that I would try it out, so I unplugged the PC Interface lead from my PC and went to plug it in the rear of the laptop.

Oh no I dont..........

The OE SPIII PC Interface lead has a 9 pin female socket fitted on the end but the laptop has a 15 pin female socket as well as another wierd and odd shaped one????

So either I need a new lead with a 9 pin male socket on it or a 9/15 pin male/male adaptor, or am I missing something.............yet again!

I've got a serial to usb adaptor somewhere, I'm not home till Thursday but I'll dig it out and send it you if you haven't sorted anything by then. I don't need it now as I sold the SPIII and bought a Quest.

I'll check this thread when I get home

P.S I think the socket on your laptop with 9 pins is an external monitor socket not a serial socket.

I think you need a Serial / usb adapter:

PITA to use as the gps is a serial device and you're using it through a usb. Does work I used it through only one usb port to help the PC.
