Round 'n' round in circles.........
OK so I have everthing ready, the Touratech bracket should be on its way, the B*W socket is fitted in the same place as the GSA one and the trip is planned to Costco next weekend......then I had a thought?

Now it was my intention to use the newly fitted socket to plug the SP III power lead into it, but what about when its raining, its not a waterproof connection so could this lead to problems?

power lead

Alan
You're right, the bracket is on it's way!
Get rid of the plug on the end of your power lead and fit an 3 amp inline fuse to the + lead then wire it off the back of the power socket down by your left foot. Route the cable up to the bars putting the fuse behind the starter motor cover before you put it back on ( its protected from the weather there)
This way looks MUCH neater and allows the power socket to be left free for your waistcoat etc.

Alan,
I've never had a problem on the Garmin end, but I've got mine wired in/ running off the ignition on the GS, on the Busa it's wired straight onto the battery.....which in fact is much better , because you don't lose your Travelling time averages, etc etc , if you forget to dive for the Garmin on/off switch to transfer it to internal battery..............Personally I'd lose the BMW plug !:)

These plugs do have a small hole in the bottom to let any water drain out. One would hope (Ha, Ha!) that MBW would have tested the plug in pissing rain. Then again, do they test anything?

Well guys thanks for all the feedback, looks like its hardwired then.

One phone call to "Sir" Rob Farmer and one is on its way........top service once again.:beerjug: :beerjug:

Not long to wait now. :P

I have TWO power sockets wired and fitted to the beak like the adv
One power socket does my waist coat
the other does my GPS
I have no problems with either in bad weather
Tested out in the rain/monsoon in Belgium last year

MY sockets also have covers on to close when not in use

Nice job done thank you the man from sheffield

;)
