SPIII USB Connection

Just got new SPIII but can`t get the computer to recognise the programing lead when plugged in. It recognises the new hardwear and runs install, then says sucsesssfully installed and ready to use, but when I go to mapsource no usb device there. I am on windows XP. Has taken over an hour to load a small map through serial port

Have you loaded the usb program, there is an update on the garmin website? I had this prob when I upraded to XP.

Nothing to do with the above, but while your there.........
Also the firmware for the unit has an update ver 2.54
And also mapsource ver 5.4

Also make sure you have SP1 for XP.........without it, XP has some major problems finding a lot of USB kit.

I had the same problem until someone else pointed me in the right direction. Ignore the save to device button on the toolbar.
Click on `File,` down to `Save to` and you should find it there. john.
