As I'm expecting my fd back from mikeyboy soon this evening I thought I'd remove the shaft and grease it , turned out to be a good half hour job as it didn't want to come off it was really dry .
Really glad I did it now as I think if I'd left it for another 10 or 15 k it might of been a different story .Getting it back on was tricky to say the least especially with that gater not giving much ,shaft itself not looking to bad for 35 k . :thumb2

Mike rebuilt my back end UJ because the swivel action had got knotchy. 50K of not much angular movement did the damage.

The final drive trunnion bearing benefits from being rocked around full stroke to redistribute the grease. It normally moves only a few degrees so the grease gets rubbed away from the working area. Mine had to be replaced for the same reason.

I used CV joint moly grease on the shaft splines and all suspension bearings that use needle rollers etc. They don't spin can't churn the grease like a wheel bearing. Pack them to the brim.

I found a 500ml tub for not much but you can also get it in pillow packs with enough for one CV joint.
