Probably just vandalism by a jealous 1150 owner- no technical reason for it to happen.
These WCs seem to have plenty of problems without the need for external input. Can't see why any 1150 owner would be jealous of that

I'm not sure where this myth started that the final drive won't take the two up setting with only one rider. Surely the enduro mode jacks the suspension right up but you are not expected to carry a pillion then.

Dont tell the stealer that....
Enduro mode doesn't actually jack up the bike, it's only the x1helmet+luggage and x2helmets together setting that raises the ride height ie the jacking up!
Enduro setting does not alter ride height or increase the drop angle of drive shaft.....Just adding my 10 penneth![]()

I stand corrected on the enduro mode, but I still think its a myth. The manual has no warnings about using the incorrect ESA settings or any guidance as to what additional weight constitutes luggage, or two riders. I'm sure that there are many tossers who make up two riders all on their own.
My guess is it is a flaw in the rubber moulding since it fails so quickly.
if you press down on that rubber boot and rotate the rear wheel , you can actually feel the u-joint rotating underneath. There isn't much clearance.
so it is obvious that at certain swingarm position(s) , the boot is allowed to contact the rotating shaft below causing grief.
its a small issue , really. No need to get worked up at all.
Why not? The OP has not done anything wrong.
Besides, 1up / 2up / luggage / no luggage is misleading. All depends on the weight. Peoples weight / luggage weight varies enormously.
