Hi

Not sure how to explain this, but I noticed yesterday that the rubber gator on the end of the top of the shaft drive was coming away. Should one concerned??

Is there the black paint being rubbed off or is that white colour some kind of paste or lubricant?

I think that the white stuff is/was the glue seal.

That white stuff should be lithium grease, it is on the TC's and I'd be pretty surprised if BMW started using glue to attach their gators. Either way it's split from the plastic ring that holds it in place, you definitely need to get that done before you ride in the wet.

Just thought I'd share with you the outcome of this. Took it to Williams today. Whilst the rubber has come away, there is an inner bit to the rubber which goes down the shaft drive by about an inch. This is clipped in. Checked some other bikes whilst I was there and they were the same. Technician told me it would be more obvious if it had completely come away. All good. Nothing to do. White residue is grease as someone said earlier.

Thanks for the update. Did they seal it up further with Lithium grease as I suspect hta tis what prevents water ingress.

Nope. Just left it as it was.
